We have had an internet and cell phone blackout for the past few days. I will attempt to catch up right now.
We found a little island just a 5 min ferry ride off the port of Baddeck called Kidston. Baddeck is a quaint little village on the shore of the inland sea. The sea is half fresh water half salt and is lovely and warm to swim in. This is regatta week and today there we were able to watch the flotilla of boats passing through the harbor between the port and our little beach.

As I mentioned, Baddeck is at the bottom end of the Cabot trail. A 400km (approx) road around the west side of Cape Breton famous for the fantastic views, beaches and cliff edges. We plan to spend the next few days exploring the Cabot Trail before heading to Sydney, the most eastern part of our trip and then down to halifax where I plan to pop in to the Trane office to say hi. I have been in touch with Wayne, the office manager, the last few days who has given me a bunch of tips where to go in Cape Breton.

In about 10 days we will start the long trek home. I’m a bit concerned. 61 days to get here and 10 days to get back, hmmm. Have we bitten of a bit more than we can chew? We have watched about only 10 of our 48 movies so we will make good use of them on the way back. The last longish trip we did was to Utah. We went to Silverwood water and amusement park in Idaho (near Couer d’lane), then down through Montana to Yellowstone and in to Utah. We spent about 21 days going down and 3 days coming back. That was a 6,500km round trip. It will just like doing that whole trip in a week.
Oh, well. We will cross that bridge when we come to it. We will do some long driving days and then take a 1/2 day break as needed. We pan to get to Oliver, BC for the 25th August for our annual family holiday. This will be our 11th year in a row.

We want to meet up with Karen and Kenny. Remember our day one? Our first day and our last days will be with our friends from Kamloops.
