Day 22 - Montreal QC (Quebec)

We had a lazy morning taking our time before setting out for downtown Montreal. Is it me, or are the road signs really confusing? Here’s an example of what it’s like driving in Montreal. Tom Tom, our reliable navigator is a little confused as he was given to us by Jen’s Mum and Dad about 6 years ago and he has been a great companion through our trips to Utah, Washington and Oregon. He has, however, fallen a little behind on any new road configurations, including the ones in our own backyard. The cost to buy the new maps is about the equivalent of a new device. We keep procrastinating replacing Tom Tom especially since the iPhone does such a great job and seems much more up to date. Despite two reliable devices the roads in Montreal seem to inexplicably split off into multiple directions with almost no apparent warning. ‘Go straight’ as instructed by Tom Tom is meaningless when the road does not ‘go straight’. Which way, left or right? Darn it, the road splits again! Now Tom Tom is getting agitated ‘Turn around’.
This is a perfect opportunity to voice my great idea for Tom Tom. How about humanizing Tom Tom with some positive affirmations like ‘Good job’ when you have taken the right turn or ‘you’re doing great’ when you have driven straight for about 100km?

Back to the journal. We parked in China town for $10 for the whole day which was quite cheap. We went and had a delicious chinese meal, recharged our batteries and then set   off into ‘old montreal’. Not much to say other than ‘very nice’ ‘very hot’ and ‘can we go now?’ We looked at ticket prices for the Cirque du Soleil and without taking out a new mortgage we will give this one a miss.  Just as we were walking away from the ‘big top’ we noticed some commotion around an outdoor trapeze and netting. We got to see a 30 minute training/outdoor show for free...bonus!

Taking a breather
Later that evening I taught Ryan and Jemma how to successfully clear a pool deck by creating the ultimate splashing machine. Just another 140lbs and they will be up to my standard! It’s all in the technique, right?
