Day 62 Littleton, Mass-Niagara Falls, NY 833km

We had a long and hard day yesterday.  We pulled into camp late and as we are getting into bigger cities and interstate driving, it is getting a little stressful.  Barry is, well, um, how should I put this, focussed on getting us home and like he says we have alot of ground to cover.  After having had a nice swim in the pool, eating our dinner in the campsite lounge while watching Ratatouille and having had a hot shower, we were able to get to bed before the storm set in.  Oh my goodness, the heavens opened and there was constant thunder and lightning.  Thank goodness everyone slept through the storm because it was really scary.  At 5am, Barry was like a thief in the night, batoning down the hatches, and hooking up the trailer in torrential, and I mean torrential, downpours.  It was pitch black and I was pretty sure we were going to leave something behind but I had to use the bathroom before Barry scooped me up (or left me behind). We were on the I90 by 5:20am.  Now before you say anything, I had said to Barry the previous day that I would way rather leave at 5am and be off the roads by 3pm than driving through heavy traffic with trucks carving you up left, right and center  So, off we went with the “windshield wipers slappin time and I was holding Barry’s hand in mine, we sang every song that Barry knew....”  A little Janis for you!  SO we made good time and got to NIAGARA FALLS.  The campsite (KOA baby!!!!!) was great, we were right beside a Dollar Tree (thank goodness as we were completely out of shampoo, toothpaste and hand soap) and there was a Taco place for dinner.  So all our needs were met and we were able to get ourselves to the American Falls and view their falls and then we walked across Rainbow Bridge into Canada and see our falls.  It was wonderful!!!!!!!!  A true wonder of the world!!!!!!!!  We also took a ride on “The Maid of the Mist” complete with ponchos.  There was no line up and the temperature was perfect.  A real modern day miracle just when I had given up on seeing the Falls on this trip.  So there we were being jostled around and pelted with spray from the water of the 4 upper lakes (Superior, Huron, Michigan and Erie) as it cascaded over the falls on the short journey to Lake Ontario.  Wow!  We stayed on the Canadian side to watch the light show and then finally walked on over to the US of A and back to the KOA.  A wonderful day with a little tension here and there (Jemma just about stepped back into the path of a moving bus and well Ryan, um...well) ....
PS  Barry left his sandals at the campsite!

Sounds intense, glad you could still do some sight seeing and see Niagara Falls. What will Barry do without his sandals?

Stormy Weather! Sounds like you need a good truck stop and a CB radio! (My dad can totally hook you up!) JK! Aren't Niagara Falls so amazing! I loved standing right where the river goes over the Falls, its strangely quiet and riveting. God Bless as you head on your way, please drive safe!
