Day 27 - Trois Rivieres - Day 4

I don’t even remember what we did this morning. Oh yes, for homework we did a crossword puzzle using french words for the human body. I somehow lost our French/English dictionary yesterday, somewhere between the welding shop and the school cafeteria. So, as the little keener I am, I work up early to do the homework and downloaded an App from the itunes store.
Whoever said that ‘necessity is the mother of invention’ was on to something. Today was great! I was able to punch away at my phone and actually understand most of what was going on! I still have tons of verbs to learn, the gender of a bathtub plus lots of basic conversational french before we get past, present and future tenses dumped on us. Yikes. I could have a melt down.
This afternoon we had to re-enact a scene from a movie en francais. Jenny and I did the scene from Titanic where Rose and Jack are in the ocean clinging onto some driftwood for dear life. Jenny wrote most of the script in french (with my comical influence) and we were a great hit. The two other groups did a scene from Star Wars and Lion King (I know because the pictures were on the screen). I’m sure they were funny but, as you may have guessed, I wasn’t really sure what they were saying.
Now you may at this point be wondering what I am doing on a course when I understand very little of what is going on? Believe, me, I have wondered the same.
Having said that I am really enjoying student life (for three weeks). Jen and I popped out to a bike shop and rolled in our sorry looking velo (cool french name for bike) and asked how much to repair. By the time we replace two wheels, two peddles and re-install the gear wire we would be into repairs for about $300. Forgetaboutit! We logged onto the quebecois equivalent of Craigslist, Kijiji and found a couple of bikes for sale for between $65 an $150. Let’s see how that pans out. I will let Jenny do the talking!
Believe it or not the Grand Prix is coming to Trois Rivieres in just a few weeks. Basically, the week after we leave. There are a bunch of roads blocked off already and one road already has the barriers up and ready for racing.
The kids had another awesome day. They went to a fair and went on a bunch of rides. Both kids were close to throwing up when they got home. We had a nice surprise, a letter from Nanny. Thanks Nanny. Your timing was perfect. Jemma read your letter out to all of us. It was nice to hear some news from home.

Hi Guys!
How goes the hunt for the new bikes?
Glad to hear from you Jenny! Hope the heat is letting up a bit! I hope someone taped your scene from titanic! Personally, I would have picked the raft/wilson scene from Castaway! Who would play wilson?
Ha! Have a good day!
